Our innovative book platform, Fiction Express, connects students with authors, encouraging reading for pleasure through fun co-creation of stories.

It has been designed to improve poor reading habits by exciting children about reading and turning them into eager readers through the power of engagement.

We publish books for reading ages 6+, 8+ and 10+ in weekly chapters and what happens next is entirely up to the readers; using their votes, they are able to decide where the plot goes next… and the author will bring the most popular choice to life.

Used in thousands of classrooms across the UK.

All chapters are complemented with teacher resources and activities mapped to the UK curriculum, online reading comprehension questions and students can interact with the authors through the book forum as they write the story.

Fiction Express gives teachers an easy to implement tool (even during the school year) to show how exciting and fun reading can be. The live co-creation and voting format naturally opens up lively class discussions and creates a unique level of student engagement.

  1. The perfect tool to engage reading.

We have really enjoyed using Fiction Express this year. It has been really valuable for the book groups that we run and has enabled us to demonstrate the added value of our service. Teachers have been telling us that the reading levels of the students in our groups have increased which is great to hear. Our students have enjoyed the quiz at the end of every chapter and although they may not all answer the questions themselves I have found that they are discussing the book when asking a friend for the answer. Being able to print off the chapters has been valuable too. Some students prefer printed rather than online and it allows us to accommodate that, as well as having an option if our wifi is not so good. Being able to message the author is something that some of our students have also enjoyed. Giving them the opportunity to ask questions or just tell the author what they think is a brilliant way of getting them to give a book review without them actually realising that is what they are doing. We have not had chance to use all the teaching resources but those teachers who are using them have found them very useful. We have also enjoyed reading the back copies as well as the live book, giving us an alternative if the live book does not fit with our students interest. There are so many options with Fiction Express we have found it the perfect tool to engage reading.

  2. Fiction Express - the definition of reading for pleasure

At Horizon English School Dubai, Fiction Express has revolutionised the teaching of reading within our school from Year 1-6. It offers children a broad range of age-appropriate texts which model grammar appropriate to the age of the reader. This ensures that children are able to read for pleasure and has impacted on the reading and writing attainment data within our school.
